Boarding Policy

All pets boarded are admitted and released only during office hours.

Our offices hours are:
Monday and Wednesday 8:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Saturday 8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

All animals entering the hospital for boarding purposes must be up to date on certain vaccinations and required tests and must be free of external/internal parasites. The following vaccinations and tests are required and must be current:

Dogs DHPPCV, Lepto, Bordetella, Rabies, Heartworm Test, and Fecal

Cats FVRCPC, Rabies, and Fecal
Feline Leukemia or Felv tested within the last year. (Documentation of negative test results is required.)

All animals are monitored closely for appetite, elimination characteristics, and any other health concerns by trained veterinary assistants and technicians. All dogs are walked outside at least twice daily.
Cages and kennels are lined with padded mats. Mats will be removed if the pet chews them or if they are routinely pushed into kennel drains.

Blankets, toys, chew bones, etc. may be admitted with the pet. However, the pet's behavior as it relates to these items is sometimes different during their stay here than that observed at home. Problems observed have been soiling the item(s) with food, water, and body wastes; pushing items down the drains; and/or shredding the material. If any problem occurs, the item(s) will be removed. The Veterinary Medical Associates, Inc. does not assume responsibility for these items.

Dogs boarded two nights or more should receive a bath. Dogs may pick up a kennel odor and/or may lightly soil themselves before they can be attended to. In some cases, depending upon their behavior, the dog may become heavily soiled. Clients may have their dog bathed just prior to being picked up, may decline the bath altogether, or may elect a bath just if their dog becomes heavily soiled. Baths are usually done on the morning of the day scheduled for pick up and are at the client's expense.

The Veterinary Medical Associates, Inc. reserves the right to tranquilize any pet if deemed necessary to avoid self-inflicted injury caused by excessive pawing or chewing at the confinement, excessive barking, and/or any other adverse behavior. Tranquilization may also be necessary to allow handling the pet without danger to the staff and/or to avoid damage to the facility.

In the event that an emergency arises, attempts will be made to contact the client at the emergency number(s) or to contact other designated agent(s) as listed. If the client cannot be reached at the emergency number(s), the Veterinary Medical Associates, Inc. will perform the services considered immediately necessary until the client can be contacted for further authorization.

I have read and fully understand the Boarding Policy.
